Meet Tony Williams.
Founder of Better Childcare MD, Branch & Bloom Learning Academy, and Blackbird Property Management, building what Prince George's County needs, right where it's needed.
Tony Williams is a Prince George's County entrepreneur with a simple belief: that where you grow up should not determine the quality of care your child receives.
Through Blackbird Property Management and Better Childcare, Tony is partnering with the Donald Smolinski Family the long-time stewards of 6705 to 6711 Old Branch Ave in Camp Springs, MD to transform the site into a future childcare and community resource. The project is being developed through a lease arrangement with long-term purchase interest, so that a premium early learning center, backed by a community foundation and surrounded by family programming, can take root on this property.
Better Childcare MD is not Tony's side project. It is his purpose-driven commitment to Prince George's County, a place he calls home and has chosen to invest in at the deepest level.
Why Now
Two years ago, the property we'd chosen for the academy was zoned to prohibit childcare. The next two years were a special exception review followed by DPIE permitting a slow, expensive lesson in how county policy can stand between a neighborhood and the things it needs most.
Council Chair Krystal Oriadha's pending bill, CB-35, would streamline exactly the path we've been walking. It hasn't passed yet but if it does, it will mean other families and providers won't have to walk it the way we have. We support it publicly, we're sharing our story to help advance it, and we're already building what it's designed to make easier.
The Mission
To build a premium, community-rooted early learning center and family programming hub in Prince George's County, where access, quality, and trust go hand in hand.

A Prince George's County where every working family has a trusted place to bring their child, and where that place makes the whole neighborhood stronger.
Why It Matters
Childcare is not a nice-to-have. It is the infrastructure that makes everything else possible: jobs, stability, child development, and community health. Prince George's County deserves better. Tony is building it.
The Operational Foundation
Blackbird Property Management.
Blackbird Property Management is Tony Williams' real estate and property management company, and the operational backbone that makes Branch & Bloom Learning Academy possible. Blackbird and Better Childcare serve as project operator and development partners, working in partnership with the Donald Smolinski Family to steward the three parcels at Old Branch Ave, manage the renovation and build-out process, and provide operational oversight for the Academy and future programming. This is an active, long-term commitment to the community.
